St. Anthony’s Offers Lamaze/Infant Care Classes for Expectant Parents
St. Anthony’s Medical Center offers Lamaze/Infant Care classes to help expectant parents prepare for all aspects of childbirth, as well as caring for their infant.
With the help of fathers or labor support partners, mothers are taught Lamaze breathing and relaxation techniques to help them through labor. A movie about childbirth is shown, and tours of the Childbirth Center are given. All Lamaze classes include evidence-based information regarding epidural and other anesthesia options.
In addition, participants receive information about infant care, feeding options, normal newborn characteristics, reflexes, bathing and more. Participants should bring two pillows and a blanket, dress comfortably and attend with the person who will be supporting them during labor.
