The People's Blog: Caddy Shack StL

Taking a passion for golf and having a good time to new heights.

Many of us remember the movie "Caddyshack" from years ago.  At the time, and still to this day by many, it's the best golf movie ever made.  It's irreverent, funny, off the wall and perhaps not something you want your kids to watch.  That makes it the perfect namesake for a new show in town called appropriately "The Caddy Shack."

Ron Godier is the host of Caddy Shack, and until about a week ago, he was a Mehlville resident.  Ron is a true testimony to what passion will do for you.  Since I've known him, he's been in and around the world of golf.  From running a multitude of charity golf tournaments to working at a store the specialized in golf training and equipment, to hitting the links and qualifying for PGA Professional tournaments, he loves golf.  He loves to play golf and when he wants to, he is fantastic.  Ask him about the 6 iron out of the rough, around a tree, to 5 feet for eagle...unbelievable! Though he downplays it, he likes to teach it as well.

When he got the opportunity to do a golf show on the radio, it was right up Ron's alley.  He loves golf, he loves to talk, and he has an irreverent sense of humor that fits in well with his co-hosts, Jay Randolph, Jr. and Skip Berkmeyer. Despite the name power of his co-hosts, this is definitely Ron's show, and it has his stamp all over it.  That means that this isn't your daddy's golf show, and it's not something you want to turn on with you young child to learn the finer points of golf.  It's a time to check out the lighter side, poke fun at the ridiculous, but also hear from some outstanding guests and spot on commentary on the world of golf.  His next project is to get this show syndicated, and he's getting some significant interest.  Listen now, while he's still only on in Saint Louis.  When you do, you can say that you listened to him when...

Check out "The Caddy Shack" on SportsRadio 1380 or on sportsradio1380.com, 7-9 a.m. on Saturday mornings.  Also check Ron and the show out on Facebook and Twitter (@caddyshackstl) and online (still under construction).

Don't forget, I need your suggestions for "The People's Blog" to continue.  Please send me a quick message if someone you know deserves a few minutes in the Patch spotlight!
