Laura's Story

It started out like any other day.  Rob was up early getting ready for work - he loved his job and arrived for his shift at least an hour early as he had done for the past 11 years.  He walked over to the bed where his wife Laura lay sleeping comfortably, leaned over to give her a kiss and tell her he loved her, and she responded with a sleepy, “I love you, too,” never opening her eyes. Little did she know that was the last opportunity she would have to see Rob alive.

Rob Morrison was a Firefighter on Rescue Squad-1 with the St. Louis Fire Department.  On May 3, 2002, while fighting a fire on the city’s south side, Firefighters Rob Morrison and Derek Martin were killed in the line of duty.

Fire service is a brotherhood and a family. Over the next several years, the families of those two fallen firefighters would receive more love and support from firefighters than most people could imagine.

Now, eleven years later, Laura, her family, close friends, and fire service family, have just opened a Bar & Grill dedicated to the men and women who protect us everyday.

In honor of Firefighter Robert Morrison, and all firefighters past and present, Laura and her partners proudly present Firehouse Bar & Grill – St. Louis “A Place to Hang Your Helmet.”
