Iron Man 3

Patch Blogger Mark Glass: *** Here’s what you need to know about the third installment of this wildly successful franchise from the Marvel Comics superhero stable. If you haven’t seen the first two flicks, don’t start here. You’ll be missing too much backstory to get into the flow. For veterans of the first two blockbusters, Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow are back as the leads, with Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau reprising their supporting roles. Guy Pearce and Sir Ben Kingsley come aboard as the mega-villains du jour. William Sadler, after a long career of mainly crook, thug or mercenary soldier gigs, has finally been rewarded with elevation to the White House, playing our beloved POTUS. The whole planet is in peril, and only Tony Stark/Iron Man can save us. Full Review

Starbuck

Patch Blogger Mark Glass: *** Despite the title, no coffee franchises are involved in the proceedings. This feelgood Canadian dramedy (mostly in French with subtitles) is a real treat. Starbuck is the nickname for David (Patrick Huard), who donated a vast supply of sperm to a fertility clinic during his college years. Twenty years later, he’s a good-natured, underachieving slacker, delivering for his father’s butcher shop, and deep in debt to some rather nasty fellows.  He’s also on the verge of fatherhood with his girlfriend, who has plenty of doubts about his readiness for parenthood. Maturity and responsibility are not in his wheelhouse...if he has one, at all. Full Review

The Angels' Share

Patch Blogger Mark Glass: *** After a few gruesome fight scenes in the early going, this Scottish dramedy turns into a delightful caper flick. The lower class characters mostly speak in such thick accents, their English would be hard for anyone outside the UK to follow. Mercifully, we’re provided subtitles on this side of the Atlantic. Full Review
