Community Corner

Welcome Riverview Gardens Students!

Dear Riverview Gardens Parents,

First of all, I would like to sympathize with you.  As the first day of school is drawing closer, you must be facing a multitude of uncertainties, worries and doubts with the decisions being made concerning your children's education.  As  a fellow parent, I can only imagine you are experiencing some stress with even the simple things such as safe travel to a district farther away while also excited with your decision knowing that you are providing your children with a better education.

Secondly, I would like to extend my most sincere apology.  Although many have accepted this news with grace, I have witnessed countless negative reactions.  Your sweet children deserve nothing more than out-stretched arms welcoming them into the Mehlville School District and I pray the school community uses these last few weeks before school starts to make it right.

My husband and I have been blessed with three beautiful children and we have chosen for them to attend public school for a variety of reasons.  As Christian parents, we take pride in raising our children to be a light, a beacon, in this increasingly dark world.  We teach them to honor, respect, and love as Jesus would want them to.
We do not determine what pleases the Lord by our own feelings, which fluctuate, or by what the world or other Christians say or think. We don’t even determine it by our own conscience, in that our conscience may be improperly informed. Rather, we learn what pleases the Lord through growing to understand His Word and HIS word, says this : If we’re no different in our thinking, attitudes, words, and behavior than those that do not know Christ, we have no message to give them... (2 Sam. 12:14).

So to you, Mehlville School District parents : I challenge you to exhibit nothing but grace and affection towards these families, just as you would want to be treated if the tables were reversed.  We are all parents, and we all have some pretty amazing children!  They watch and listen to us...what is the example we are setting for them?

And to the Riverview Garden families : WELCOME!!!   Set your fears aside.  The Mehlville School District is FANTASTIC and we look forward to our children learning along side of yours.  What a blessing for all involved!

Sincerely,
A Blessed Mehlville Mommy
