Mehlville Wins Huge Against Whitfield

Mehlville wins against Whitfield in game one of round two of the Founders Cup.

What a Valentine's Day gift the Mehlville varsity team gave their friends and family tonight!  It was the first game of round two in the Founders Cup out at Queeny Park this evening with Mehlville playing against Whitfield. Freshman players started the night off with a pass from Adam Ryffel to Luke Hemenway for a goal to put Mehlville on top 1-0.  The Loef made it 2-0 for Mehlville. Then Adam Ryffel scored bringing it up to 3-0. Billy Borner and Nick Durham were not to be left out and scored bringing the total to 5-0 to end the first period. 

Mehlville started the second period off by adding another goal to the score board.  However, this time Whitfield answered by scoring a goal of their own making the score 6-1.  Billy Borner for Mehlville scored again giving himself a hat trick.  The second period ended with a score of 7-1.  Mehlville out shot Whitfield 29 to 13.

The third period turned out just as exciting as the first two, with Adam Ryffel scoring a power play goal making it 8-1.   Then Mehlville seniors, Jake Schaefer and Dalton Morrison added two more goals bringing the score to 10-1.  Then the Loef added one more for Mehlville making it 11-1, which was the final score for the night.  Whitfield had a total of 16 shots on goal to Mehlville's 46 shots.

Mehlville plays Whitfield again tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 15th, at  9:30 pm at South County.  They need to win this game to move on to the finals of the Founders Cup.  Go Panthers!
