17-Year-Old Mehlville Man Wanted for Assaulting an Officer

St. Louis County Police said Garrett McPherson pulled away from an officer who was trying to arrest him during a foot chase, causing the officer to fall on rocky terrain, breaking his hand.

A 17-year-old Mehlville man is wanted after injuring a St. Louis County police officer while fleeing an arrest.

Garrett McPherson, 17, of the 4200 block of Salem School Road in Mehlville, was charged May 17 with assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

St. Louis County Police said officers were attempting to arrest McPherson in the 4900 block of Tanqueray Lane in Mehlville for trespassing, harassment and burglary when he fled on foot.

Police said during the chase, he pushed one detective. When another officer attempted to grab him, McPherson attempted to run, causing the officer to fall in rocky terrain, according to a court document. The officer broke his hand and was unable to return to duty for a significant period of time, police said.

McPherson still is being sought and has a warrant out for his arrest. Bail was set at $15,000.
