Car Hydroplanes on I-270, Sending Driver to Hospital After Sunday Morning Crash

A car crash on Interstate 270 south of Tesson Ferry Road in South County Sunday morning sent a man to the hospital with moderate injuries, according to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

According to the report, Dominick Palczynski, 69, of St. Louis, was driving southbound on I-270 at about 8:35 a.m. Sunday when his 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt hydroplaned, causing him to lose control. The vehicle veered off the left side of the highway and struck the concrete median barrier, according to the MSHP. He was taken to Mercy Hospital by an ambulance from the Mehlville Fire Protection District with injuries classified as serious.

The MSHP report indicated that Palczynski was wearing a seat belt.
