House Fire in Mehlville, Man Taken Away by Ambulance

St. Louis County Police and Mehlville Fire Protection District arrived at the house fire around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday evening.

At least one person was taken away in an ambulance as firefighters extinguished a housefire in Mehlville on Saturday evening. 

More than 10 emergency vehicles lined the small, residential street of Oledel Road, tucked behind the Royale Orleans Banquet Center off of Telegraph Road.

One man, who neighbors say uses a wheelchair, was stuck inside the home at 2829 Oledel Road, according to St. Louis County Police. He was transported away in an ambulance. His current condition hasn't been confirmed with safety officials.

Neighbors say the house was home to a couple, their grown son and his girlfriend. Casper, the dog, was given to neighbors for safe keeping. The woman and her son were both treated by emergency crews for injuries.

It's unclear when or how the fire started. Emergency crews arrived at around 7:40 p.m. Saturday night.
