Fox Schools Seeks to Fire Teacher Facing Sexual Assault Charge

Superintendent Dianne Brown, who spoke to the media, said her goal is to protect her students and school employees.

Fox C-6 School District administrators will seek to fire Fox High School English teacher Eugene Richard Milzark, who faces sexual assault charges in St. Louis County.

“The whole situation saddens me,” said Fox Schools Superintendent Dianne Brown, who spoke during a news conference with St. Louis media on Wednesday afternoon at the district's administrative offices.

Any violation of trust is disturbing, she said. Brown said her goal as superintendent is to place the best people in the Fox schools to help students with their education.

Milzark, who the students know as Richard, faces one  with a Fox school student at his St. Louis County apartment, said a St. Louis County Police news release.

The victim called St. Louis County police on Jan. 6.

Brown said investigators called her at work that same day and school administrators decided to remove Milzark from the school and place him on paid administrative leave.

“My first reaction was for student safety,” Brown said.

No further contact between Milzark and any other Fox students has occurred to Brown’s knowledge.

Brown hopes to present charges to fire Milzark on Thursday. He will have 15 days to respond to the charges and request a hearing.

No signs of improper relations or history of offenses appeared in Milzark’s history.

“We conduct a thorough background check—FBI, State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, child abuse, neglect and criminal record when hiring someone,” Brown said.

She advised students struggling with the issue to talk to their favorite teachers, relatives or school counselors.

She also advised parents to talk to their children, check their online social media accounts and phone text messages.

School administrators were unaware of improper social media messages between the Milzark and the victim.

Fox teachers and administrators discussed the state law limiting social media relationships with students. They drafted a social media policy on Tuesday and hope to enact it by the school district’s February board meeting.

It is unfair to take the St. Louis County prosecutor’s charges and apply a blanket statement about the Fox School District, Brown said, adding that Fox students are safe on school property and district employees are good people.
