Jim Walters Set for 'Indecent Conduct' Court Date Today

The former Point Elementary School principal is due in court Tuesday; Walters' attorney Neil Bruntrager said in July he has no reason to suspect the trial wouldn't happen today.

Former  principal Jim Walters is due to appear in court Tuesday after being  from a park ranger at Forest Park in St. Louis.

The ranger "observed subject Walters grab his genitals while talking to a man in a vehicle who later confessed to what was happening," he stated in the ticket.

After two continuances, a trial date was set for July, but because of a scheduling conflict with the courts, the trial was moved to Aug. 14. Walters' attorney Neil Bruntrager said in July he has no reason to suspect the trial wouldn't happen Tuesday. 

Walters , Bruntrager said, and wouldn't comment beyond that.

"I firmly believe that he'll be completely vindicated in this matter," he said in April.

, but after no resolution, the Mehlville school board voted to fire Walters. 

In a closed meeting June 21, the board unanimously voted to terminate his contract and hire Dr. Dan Gieseler as the principal of  for the 2012-2013 school year. 

Superintendent Eric Knost placed the principal on paid administrative leave in March, pending a district investigation. He  to parents two months later saying Walters would not return to Point.

Walters had been the principal since 2007.

The city prosecutor's office did not comment on the case.
