Lemay Man Charged with Manslaughter in His Wife's Heroin Overdose

Police said the woman's body was found lying on the ground near the roadway in the 200 block of Wachtel Avenue.

A Lemay man was charged Thursday with involuntary manslaughter in his wife’s death. The woman’s body was found lying near the roadway June 26 in the 200 block of Wachtel Road.

Anthony Smalley, 31, of the 200 block of Pardella in the Lemay area, was charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter in his wife Charly Smalley's death. She was 26.

An autopsy revealed Charly Smalley died from a heroin overdose. A witness saw Anthony Smalley inject her in the arm with heroin about 12 hours before her body was found, according to report.

The drug use took place at an apartment in the 200 block of Lemay Ferry Road, one street from where Charly Smalley’s body was found.

Police said Smalley admitted injecting Charly Smalley, and then having to resuscitate her. However, she never regained consciousness, he told police.

Bond was set at $100,000.
