Lemay Man Charged with Manslaughter in His Wife's Heroin Overdose

Police said the woman's body was found lying on the ground near the roadway in the 200 block of Wachtel Avenue.

A Lemay man was charged Thursday with involuntary manslaughter in his wife’s death. The woman’s body was found lying near the roadway June 26 in the 200 block of Wachtel Road.

Anthony Smalley, 31, of the 200 block of Pardella in the Lemay area, was charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter in his wife Charly Smalley's death. She was 26.

An autopsy revealed Charly Smalley died from a heroin overdose. A witness saw Anthony Smalley inject her in the arm with heroin about 12 hours before her body was found, according to report.

The drug use took place at an apartment in the 200 block of Lemay Ferry Road, one street from where Charly Smalley’s body was found.

Police said Smalley admitted injecting Charly Smalley, and then having to resuscitate her. However, she never regained consciousness, he told police.

Bond was set at $100,000.

Mr. Smalley obviously has a talent for venipuncture. He should direct his energy toward administering medications in a hospital setting.

Mr. Smalley appears to have quite a talent for venipuncture. He would be great at a hospital or doctors office.

I am Charly Smalleys mother, Darla Young Carey, no one contacted me about her murder... i found out from her friends who watched it on the 2pm news on the 6/26/12! I understand her body was found around 6am that morning

The last words i heard from Charly was that Patrick George Johnson (Anthonys best buddy) took her to St.Louis and left her in Lemay Park!!! She called me at 1:29pm while at a gas station in Desloge Mo. (Hocker Gas Station where my husband was working at the time and he gave her gas money to get back home on) Anthony Smalley was driving Steven Ruops truck w/o valid drivers license! At the end of the conversation Charly said "I love you mom." I did learn a little more about Charlys ordeal from your article... and i thank you
