Oakville Man Pleads Guilty to Fraud, Identity Theft

An Oakville man pled guilty to mail fraud and aggravated identity theft after being arrested in St. Charles Aug. 27. 

William Lubker, 51, was found at an extended stay hotel after failing to appear at a hearing in August. 

He admitted to defrauding Medstaff Locums, a medical staffing company based in Chicago. Court documents said Lubker stole $400,000 by creating phantom employees within the company between 2009 and earlier this year. He would tell his employer he'd placed a medical professional when there was no placement and then siphon portions of the employees payments for himself. 

Lubker also admitted to aggravated identity theft by misusing a name and social security account. He pled guilty before United States District Judge E. Richard Webber and sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 29.        

Lubker will have to pay full restitution and forfeit many items he purchased with the money including several items of jewelry, a Rolex watch, a Breitling watch and three firearms, according to the US Department of Justice.     

Mail fraud has a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. The aggravated identity theft count carries a minimum term of 2 years in prison.
