Officer Says Retaliation is Happening for Exposing Racial Profiling

Sgt. Daniel O'Neil said he is being punished for revealing wrongdoing in the St. Louis County Police Department's South County precinct with racial profiling.

He went by Lonewolf.

It is the name he signed on anonymous letters alleging a veteran police lieutenant ordered officers in the St. Louis County Police Department's South County precinct to target black people at South County Center.

On Tuesday he decided to reveal his true identity when he filed a complaint filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

He is Sgt. Daniel O'Neil. The complaint is he first step toward filing a discrimination lawsuit against the police department.

Some revere him as a hero for exposing an ugly secret while others say he made a big deal of nothing.

Still, he says he's having a difficult time a work since he made himself known. He told the St. Louis Post Dispatch the police department has targeted him ever since learning he wrote the letters.
