Police Continue Investigating Rash of Car Break-Ins

Almost 20 cars at both Orlando's Catering and Chuck E. Cheese were broken into on Feb. 11.

The South County Police Precinct is currently investigating that took place on Feb. 11 during the Fenton Chamber of Commerce event at Orlando's Catering on Hoffmeister Avenue. Two officers were present, but left at approximately 8 p.m. on an armed robbery call at Big Lots in Oakville, according to 4th Precinct Captain Marion Monteleone.

After the officers left, an unknown number of suspects broke into 18 cars on Orlando's parking lot, stealing items and money, including a laptop from an unmarked police car.

Another break-in was reported at that same night. Police suspect the two incidents are connected as stolen items from the car at Chuck E. Cheese were recovered at the scene on Hoffmeister.

"We have a vague description from a witness at Chuck E. Cheese, but other than that haven't been able to verify that it is the same people," Monteleone said.

Officers made an arrest Tuesday afternoon in relation to other vehicle larcenies in the area, and recovered several items of stolen property.

"We're investigating other car break-ins in connection with this one," Monteleone said.

The captain also said the precinct is working on programs with the detective bureau to prevent future break-ins.
