Police: Windows Shattered, Wallets Stolen from 7 Cars at Grant's Trail

A group of six teens smashed the car windows in the parking lot next to Orlando Gardens, police said.

A group of teens shattered the windows of seven cars parked at the Grant’s Trail lot at 4300 Hoffmeister Sunday and stole wallets, police said.

The six black male teens drove away from the parking lot, which is located at Orlando Gardens Banquet Center, in a silver 2001 Pontiac Grand Am two-door with an temporary Illinois license plate reading 842N406, according to the St. Louis County Police South County precinct.

The Dellwood Police Department said the car was stolen on October 25. The car was last seen driving north on I-55 from Union Road.

The teens stole several wallets containing drivers’ licenses, cash, debit cards and credit cards.

The general assignment and auto theft units of the St. Louis County Police Department were notified for follow-up.

Police say the typical smash-and-grab car break in requires less than 90 seconds. To avoid being victimized, police suggest keeping cars free of tempting items like phones, chargers, wallets and coins.
