UPDATED: Shaw Found and Arrested by Police

Police have located and arrested Timothy Shaw, who they suspect of robbing several area banks.

The FBI has announced that Timothy Shaw, 37, is suspected of being involved in at least 11 bank robberies since August including six in Mehlville and Oakville.

Capt. Marion Monteleone with the South County Police Precinct said Shaw was a heroin addict and the evidence against him will "put him away for a long time."

Along with the Montgomery Bank robbery on Union Road Monday, The Post Dispatch reports Shaw could be responsible for several other area robberies: 

  • First Bank at 7435 Watson Road in Shrewbury March 18
  • Regions Bank at 4706 South Kingshighway in St. Louis March 4 and Jan. 31
  • Regions Bank at 3547 Hampton Avenue in St. Louis on Feb. 22
  • Southern Commercial Bank at 3207 Meramec Bottom Road in Oakville on Oct. 20 and Sept. 15
  • Vantage Credit Union at 4545 Lemay Ferry Road in Oakville Oct. 2
  • First Bank at 2909 Telegraph Road in Mehlville on Aug. 27

Timothy Shaw, 37, has been located and arrested by City police, accoring to a statement from the St. Louis County Police Department. 

in connection with Monday's bank robbery at Montgomery Bank on Union Road. 

Detectives will now have 24 hours to gather evidence and present a case to the prosecutor's office, in the hopes of issuing a warrant. 

"Witnesses have already identified him as the robber," said Capt. Marion Monteleone with the South County Police Precinct. "We're glad he's off the street and won't be pointing guns at anybody."
