South County Man Attempted Robbery With Pocket Knife, Police Say

The intended victim had no cigarettes and no cash, which the robber demanded, police said.

A South County man tried to rob another person by knife-point at a bus stop at the West Velma and South Broadway intersection Dec. 18, police said.

St. Louis County Police said Robert M. Hixson, 26, pulled out a pocket knife and demanded cigarettes and cash from a person at the bus stop at about 2:40 p.m. Police said he lunged at the person with the knife while making his demands. The victim had no cigarettes and no money and couldn’t comply.

Police said Hixson left and headed south on Broadway.

Hixson, of the 200 block of Bayless Avenue in South County, was charged Dec. 19 with first-degree attempted robbery and armed criminal action.

Hixson was being held in St. Louis County jail Thursday. Bail was set at $50,000.
