Suspect Arrested After First Union Bank Robbery

No one was injured in the robbery, which occured at 10:48 a.m.

A man was taken into custody shortly after police responded to a bank robbery call at the First Missouri Credit Union located at 1690 Lemay Ferry Road. No one was injured when a man, armed with a handgun, entered the bank and demanded money. He then fled in a vehicle with an undetermined amount of money.

Police responded to the call at 10:48 a.m. and the Metro Air Support Unit Helicopter was brought in. Fewer than 15 minutes after the original call, officers located the suspect's vehicle and took him into custody. The money and weapon was recovered in the car.

"We have everything recovered: the guns, the clothes, the money. We got lucky because the helicopter was up, and we had the signal on the bank money," said Capt. Marion Monteleone with the South County Precinct. "Officers are processing the scene and then he'll be going to Clayton."
