Ed Ryan and Michael Klund will face off in the April election for a seat on the Mehlville Fire Protection District Board of Directors.
Ryan, an incumbent who serves as the board's secretary, filed a lawsuit to remove Lemay resident Klund from the April 2 ballot because his St. Louis County property taxes were not paid to date, Call Newspapers reported in January. Klund paid the sum in January.
According to the Call, St. Louis County Circuit Court Judge Michael T. Jamison has ruled that Klund will remain on the ballot.
Ryan was elected to his first term in 2007. Klund also ran for the District board of directors in 2011.
The district's board contains three members who are elected by voters. Each is elected to a six-year term.
The Mehlville Fire Protection District provides fire, rescue, emergency medical, fire prevention and inspection services for the cities of Sunset Hills, Green Park, Lakeshire, the townships of Oakville, Mattese, Concord Village, Sappington and portions of Lemay and unincorporated St. Louis County, according to the district's web site.
