Claire McCaskill, Todd Akin Still Raising Money Weeks After Election Day

The Akin campaign is rallying supporters by highlighting actor Jamie Foxx's weekend comments about President Obama.

It is coming almost a month after voters went to the polls and elected Missouri U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill to a second term over U.S. Rep. Todd Akin, but actor Jamie Foxx has become something of a campaign talking point in the race.

His comments at the Soul Train Awards referring to President Barack Obama as "our lord and savior" over the weekend are the subject of a mass email Akin's campaign sent Thursday to subscribers following his just-completed Senate campaign:

Article after article has been written about a no-name filmmaker who produced a short video mocking Islam.

How much do you think will be written about an Oscar winning Hollywood star mocking Christianity.

Friends, I may have lost the Senate race, but I do not plan to stop speaking out about the problems facing our country, and I encourage you to do so as well!

Thanks for all you do, in particular your recent help in getting our last few remaining campaign bills paid promptly. We're making great progress on that front, but could still use your help if you can donate $10 today! We want to make sure our vendors, who sacrificed a lot for this campaign, are paid as quickly as possible.

The missive came 2 days after an appeal from McCaskill entitled, "loose ends" which said, in part:

It's been a few weeks since our incredible victory on Election Night, and I'm still pinching myself. The strength of our victory in a most unusual campaign was downright historic.

What we achieved together was nothing short of incredible — we decisively won by 16 points in a state that Mitt Romney carried by ten points. We showed the country what it means to reject extremism, and we struck a commonsense blow for compromise.

I'm back in Washington now and excited to get back to work — fighting hard to pass the farm bill, end subsidies to the biggest oil companies, and protect the programs that the middle class relies on.

During the last few weeks of the campaign, we knew that we couldn't leave anything on the table. The stakes were too high. So that means we have some campaign debt left that I'm hopeful you will help with.

Will you help us raise $25,000 to cover the final costs of our campaign?
