The service will be held today at 1 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery

Founded in July 1999, the Missouri National Guard Funeral Honors program will conduct its 100,000th funeral service Tuesday afternoon at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.

They will honor Sgt. Anthony Terrell Deal, of St. Louis, for his four years in the Army National Guard. Deal, who was born July 30, 1975, served as a chemical operations specialist and was deployed to Kosovo in 2008. He was also a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq.

Deal died of a brain tumor Aug. 8. His awards include the Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
