Married to Mary (Kay Henson) Zelle for 34 years.  Raised 3 daughters in Oakville (Julie (Kyle) Sniegowski, Jen Zelle, and Tricia Zelle).  They each graduated from St. Francis of Assisi Grade School, Oakville Senior High School, and MIZZOU

Graduated from Cleveland High School in 1972, and from the University Missouri – St. Louis in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. 

Passed the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) examination in 1982 and was licensed to practice accounting in Missouri until September 30, 2011. 

Retired CPA with 34 years of experience with Internal Revenue Service; including over 25 years as a manager, 8 years with the Taxpayer Advocate Service, and 3 years as the Senior Commissioner’s Representative of the Great Plains Area. 

As the Local Taxpayer Advocate for 6 years, served as an independent voice within the IRS for taxpayers in Missouri.  Managed a group of 35 employees and we assisted thousands of taxpayers to resolve outstanding problems with the IRS, and provided relief to taxpayers with significant economic hardships.   As the Director of Field Systemic Advocacy, lead three groups of employees located throughout the United States where we investigated problems with IRS systems to reduce taxpayer burden and improve efficiencies of IRS processes.

As the Senior Commissioner’s representative, was the IRS senior administrative officer for a seven state region. Resolved conflicts within the IRS, and established a strong working relationship with 8 union chapters throughout the area.
