MoDOT Request: No Parking on One Block of Telegraph

Between Brilliant and Willette: It's to improve sight distance when turning onto Telegraph.

To improve sight distance for sidestreet turning drivers, MoDOT has requested that St. Louis County prohibit parking on the east side of Telegraph Road between Brilliant Lane and Willette Terrace.

County Highways and Traffic Director Sheryl Hodges communicated to Executive Charlie Dooley that a MoDOT traffic studies specialist made the request. Telegraph Road is a MoDOT-maintained road within St. Louis County.

The county council heard the first reading of the bill at the Dec. 13 meeting. It is scheduled for its second reading on Dec. 20 and final passage on Jan. 3.

If passed, signs would be posted (by MoDOT) sometime in late January. After that, St. Louis County Police would begin enforcing no parking on the block.

Although Telegraph is a state route, it’s in unincorporated St. Louis County–which is why County Council needs to approve the restriction. Without an ordinance, County Police wouldn’t be able to enforce the parking ban.
