MoDOT Shares Work Zone Plans for Memorial Day Weekend

For this weekend’s Memorial Day holiday, MoDOT is suspending most highway construction and maintenance work throughout the state. Increased traffic is expected due to the holiday travels. Work will stop at noon on Friday and resume Tuesday morning. A few work zone lane closures will remain in place due to the nature of the work. 

Closure of one lane of northbound and southbound Route 141 at Route 21 in Jefferson County for bridge work has been rescheduled due to last night's inclement weather. Crews will now begin at 7 p.m. tonight, weather permitting. At 7 p.m. one lane on the northbound Route 141 bridge will close.

At 11 p.m., one lane of southbound Route 141 will close. All lanes are expected to reopen by 3 a.m. Friday morning. During this time crews will be pouring a new concrete driving surface on the Route 141 bridge. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2011.

All lanes on eastbound I-64 and the 11th Street exit ramp in downtown St. Louis will remain open from 3 p.m. Thursday through the holiday weekend.   

Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:

·        I-55, St. Louis City, Delor Street across I-55 is closed for bridge replacement.

·        I-55, St. Louis City, Holly Hills across I-55 is closed for bridge replacement.

Thursday, May 26

·        I-55/I-64/I-70, St. Louis City, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., eastbound lane closed on Poplar Street Bridge.

·        I-255, St. Louis County, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., southbound lane closed at Jefferson Barracks Bridge.

·        I-55, Jefferson County, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., two southbound lanes closed at Route M.

Friday, May 27

·        I-55/I-64/I-70, St. Louis City, 9 a.m. to noon, eastbound lane closed on Poplar Street Bridge.

·        No work after noon due to Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Saturday, May 28

·        No work due to Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Sunday, May 29

·        No work due to Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Monday, May 30

·        No work due to Memorial Day holiday.

Tuesday, May 31

·        I-55/I-64/I-70, St. Louis City, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., eastbound lane closed on Poplar Street Bridge.

·        I-255, St. Louis County, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., northbound lane closed at Jefferson Barracks Bridge.

·        I-55, St. Louis County, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., two northbound lanes closed at Union.

Wednesday, June 1

·        I-55/I-64/I-70, St. Louis City, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., eastbound lane closed on Poplar Street Bridge.

·        I-255, St. Louis County, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., northbound lane closed at Jefferson Barracks Bridge.
