MoDOT, IDOT Advise Motorists of Weekend Lane Closures

Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes due to Delor Bridge work, the Go! St. Louis Marathon and work on several interstates in the area.

The Missouri and Illinois departments of transportation will have multiple lane closures on Interstates 55, 64 and 70 in downtown St. Louis this weekend.

Motorists are encouraged to use I-270/I-255 as alternate river crossings and to anticipate delays and detours with multiple lane and ramp closures downtown.

The work is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, April 11. The Illinois work will happen regardless of impending weather. All of the Missouri side work may stop during the weekend depending on amount and severity of storms.The summary of the work that might affect the Oakville area is as follows:

  ·    On the Illinois side of the Mississippi River, I-55/I-70 will be

     closed this weekend east of the split from I-64 for the removal of a

     railroad bridge

  ·    Two lanes closed each direction on the Poplar Street Bridge

  ·    Ramp from Poplar Street Bridge to westbound I-70 closed and then ramp

     from northbound I-55 to PSB closed

Also, on Sunday there will be additional ramp closures downtown for the Go! St. Louis Marathon. From 5 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, April 9, I-64 exits will be closed westbound at Forest Park/Grand, 3000 Market and 21st/Market and eastbound exits closed at Market/Bernard and Chestnut/20th.

In South County, motorists using northbound I-270 from Gravois to I-44 also are advised of a triple lane closure from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday. Lanes are being shifted on northbound I-270 to prepare for construction repairs to the I-270 bridges over Rott Road and over I-44. Northbound I-270 traffic will remain shifted and have narrowed lanes for two months for this construction with a reduced work zone speed limit of 45 mph in place around the clock.  Similar work will occur on southbound I-270 in June.

Motorists are advised of the following on-going closures that may affect South County drivers:

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, Delor Street across I-55 is closed for bridge
     replacement

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, Holly Hills across I-55 is closed starting
     Monday, April 11 for bridge replacement.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, on ramp from Route M to Southbound I-55.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, northbound I-55 exit to Route M closed until
     mid 2011.

     two lanes closed each direction on the Mississippi River Bridge.

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, ramp closed
     from northbound I-55 to eastbound Poplar Street Bridge to Illinois.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., one lane closed northbound
     at Route M.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., one lane closed
     southbound at Route M.

Saturday, April 9

  ·    I-55/64/70, Poplar Street Bridge, until 5 a.m. Monday, two lanes
     closed each direction on the Mississippi River Bridge.

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, until 5 a.m. Monday, ramp closed from
     northbound I-55 to eastbound Poplar Street Bridge to Illinois.

Sunday, April 10

  ·    I-55/64/70, Poplar Street Bridge, until 5 a.m. Monday, two lanes
     closed each direction on the Mississippi River Bridge.

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, until 5 a.m. Monday, ramp closed from
     northbound I-55 to eastbound Poplar Street Bridge to Illinois.

  ·    I-64, St. Louis City, 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., westbound exits closed at
     Forest Park/Grand, 3000 Market and 21st/Market and eastbound exits
     closed at Market/Bernard and Chestnut/20th for Go! St. Louis
     Marathon.

Monday, April 11

  ·    I-55/64/70 Poplar Street Bridge, St. Louis City, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
     one lane closed eastbound on the Mississippi River bridge.

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., one lane closed southbound at
     Delor.

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., one lane closed northbound at
     Delor.

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, starting Monday, Holly Hills over I-55 will be
     closed for bridge replacement.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., one lane closed northbound
     at Route M.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., one lane closed
     southbound at Route M.


Tuesday, April 12

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., one lane closed southbound at
     Delor.

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., one lane closed northbound at
     Delor.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., one lane closed northbound
     at Route M.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., one lane closed
     southbound at Route M.

Wednesday, April 13

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., one lane closed southbound at
     Delor.

  ·    I-55, St. Louis City, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., one lane closed northbound at
     Delor.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., one lane closed northbound
     at Route M.

  ·    I-55, Jefferson County, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., one lane closed
     southbound at Route M.
