MODOT: With Wintry Weather in the Forecast, Give Crews Room to Work

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on the St. Louis area work zones for February 28 - March 6.

The Missouri Department of Transportation warns that crews may be out treating roadways and plowing in the coming week. Drivers give the trucks plenty of room to work.

Commuters should also be aware of changing roadway conditions, especially in the mornings. They should slow down, and be prepared for possible ice, especially on ramps and bridges.

As the weather clears, maintenance workers will be completing needed roadway maintenance, such as pavement repairs and crack sealing. Please watch for slow moving or stopped vehicles with flashing lights in traffic lanes.

As weather permits, inspection crews will close one lane in each direction on the Poplar Street Bridge.  Weekdays, crews will close the lane between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, workers will have one lane closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:

  • I-64, St. Louis City, the Vandeventer ramp to westbound I-64 is closed until late 2013.
  • I-64, St. Louis City, drivers in both directions will have three shifted, 10-foot lanes between Kingshighway and Vandeventer until November 2013. The rightmost lane of eastbound I-64 will exit at Hampton.
  • Wellington, St. Louis City, the Wellington bridge closed over the River Des Peres until April 2013. Detour to Jamieson Avenue bridge.
  • I-70, (westbound section of the Interstate 70 Blanchette bridge over the Missouri River) will remain closed until fall 2013. The eastbound I-70 bridge has three lanes of traffic in each direction. The ramp from northbound 5th Street to eastbound I-70 is closed until fall 2013.
