St. Louis Cardinals Honor Jefferson Barracks Soldiers in Special Broadcast

The Sept. 2 game will be aired in Afghanistan for the soldiers.

National Guard Soldiers stationed in Afghanistan will get a slice of home Friday night, as the St. Louis Cardinals game will be televised to the troops serving overseas.

As part of Fox Sports Midwest’s annual “This One’s For You” salute to the military, the game will be showing at 4:30 a.m. to members of the 1138th Transportation Company from Bagram Air Field.

The 170-person company was headquartered at Jefferson Barracks and on a convoy operations mission delivering supplies throughout the country.

Soldiers will watch the Cardinals take on the Reds and be featured in live shout-outs to their family and friends.

More than 250 soldier family members will be at the game in section 268 and other fans are encouraged to bring signs and banners saluting the troops.

The troop's Redbird fever has been with them throughout their time in Afghanistan.

, he presented commander Capt. Jamie Melchert with a Hrabosky bobblehead doll. Melchert took that doll overseas and soldiers have been taking pictures with it throughout their journey.
