Food Drive for Families, Pets at Queen of All Saints

Donate canned goods and pet food at Queen of All Saints now through October 13, and the school could earn a cash prize.

Help Queen of All Saints school earn a cash prize by donating canned goods and dog food during the “Lend a CAN” food drive.

SHOP ‘N SAVE stores, Del Monte Foods and the St. Louis Area Foodbank are holding the food drive for families and pets now through October 13.

If Queen of All Saints brings in the most donations, they would earn a $2,500 cash prize. Five second-place schools will earn $1,000.

Proceeds from the “Lend a CAN” drive will benefit the St. Louis Area Foodbank and Five Acres Animal Shelter, the only no-kill shelter in St. Charles County.

“Nearly 40 percent of individuals receiving food assistance from the Foodbank are under the age of 18,” said Frank Finnegan, president and CEO of the St. Louis Area Foodbank.  “The ‘Lend a CAN’ food drive is a great way for kids to help other kids.  It teaches them to give back to those less fortunate and gives them an opportunity to help their school at the same time.”

In addition to the food drive, Del Monte will donate 25 cents for each Meow Mix, Pup-Peroni and Kibbles ‘n Bits item purchased at SHOP ‘N SAVE, with the funds benefiting Five Acres Animal Shelter.  Shoppers have the opportunity to be rewarded during the campaign as well.  Customers who purchase 10 cans of Del Monte canned goods at any SHOP ‘N SAVE store can receive a $5 gift card from the retailer by mail-in rebate.
