Oakville Tigers Hockey Beat Lindbergh, Look Forward to Playoffs

Forward Brandon Nichting was fundamental in helping the Oakville Tigers beat rival Lindbergh Flyers at the Shaw Park Hockey Classic last weekend.

The Oakville Tigers beat rival Lindbergh Flyers 4-2 at the Shaw Park Winter Classic outdoor exhibition tournament.

Brendan Nichting, a senior, had a hand in all four of Oakville's goals, scoring twice and assisting twice.

“It felt great today because it felt like I was out there a lot and that my coach believed in me a lot,” Nichting told the St. Louis Post Dispatch. “It’s nice that you don’t get to do this (play outdoors) very often and to have four points and (beat Lindbergh) makes it great.”

Coach Derek Stephens said the win was exciting—especially with five of his players out of town—but his mind was looking forward to the playoffs, which start Jan. 31 with a matchup against Lafayette.
