Mehlville Board of Education Earns State Leadership Award

The Board was one of only 10 in the state to receive the Missouri School Boards' Association award.

The Mehlville School District Board of Education is one of only 10 school boards out of the 522 school boards in the state to be honored with the Missouri School Boards’ Association’s (MSBA) 2011 Leadership Team Award. The honor recognizes school boards who display an outstanding commitment to ongoing professional development, regional and statewide leadership, legislative advocacy for public schools and successful implementation of education policy.

“It’s an honor for the Board to receive this prestigious award from MSBA,” said Board President Venki Palamand in a statement. “This recognition is a reflection on the countless hours our Board members spend learning and working to become better informed about public education and the issues that impact our District.  The MSBA training not only allows us to make decisions that are beneficial to the students of the Mehlville School District, but it also helps us maintain our position as the top district in Missouri for return on taxpayer investment.”

To receive this year’s award, the Mehlville School District Board of Education met the following criterion:

  • All school Board members have attained essential certification from MSBA.
  • At least two Board members attained the advanced level of certification from MSBA.
  • At least one Board member attained the Master's level of certification, MSBA's highest certification distinction.
  • Representatives from the Board attended MSBA's 2010 Annual Conference.
  • Representatives from the Board attended either MSBA's 2010 Spring Regional or 2010 Fall Regional meetings.
  • Representatives from the Board attended MSBA's 2011 Legislative Forum in Jefferson City.
  • A representative from the Board participated in MSBA's Delegate Assembly.

The Board of Education was be honored as a recipient of the 2011 Leadership Team Award at the MSBA’s Leadership Summit Banquet earlier this month.
