Mehlville High School Teens Compete in Talent Showcase

Five talented students at MHS are taking their acts on the road and competing in the St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase Competition.

Students from will compete this weekend in the St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase Competition to earn thousands of dollars in scholarships.

Five Panther students have signed up to be part of the 119 acts in the competition:

Kaitlyn Smith, captain of the Pantherettes , will be dancing and singing for the competition.

“I realized it was something that I loved,” she said about dance. “Around fourth or fifth grade, I realized I loved singing, too. I love to make people smile and make them happy.”

Abby Wicks, who will be singing at the competition, was a member of the for their exciting baton and flag-twirling halftime show. Wicks is no stranger to the competition, as the Majorettes .

Jamesha Reed and Paiten Hamilton, who go by Collie B. and Urban, respectively, when performing as D.O.P.E., will be singing and dancing during their performance.

Clay Bitter, a guitarist and singer, was also in the cast and crew of .

The preliminary rounds on March 10 and 11 will narrow the field down to about 30 acts. The final 12 will perform at The Fabulous Fox Theater on April 27.

The first, second and third place winners will earn $7,000, $5,000 or $3,000 in scholarships. Other universities and organizations, such as Lindenwood University or The Muny, are also offering scholarships and prizes.
