New Start Times, Higher Lunch Prices in the Mehlville School District

Here's what you need to know for the first day back.

As pencils are sharpened and lunchboxes get filled, there are some new changes to the Mehlville School District this year. Here's what's going on:

Higher Lunch Prices

The Mehlville School District will  by 10 cents to improve nutrition and comply with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines. Lunch prices for the 2011-12 school year will be increased to $2.10 at the elementary school level and $2.35 at the middle and high schools. There will not be an increase in breakfast prices for the 2011-12 school year.

For the first day of school, elementary students will be having Chicken Giggles with sides of potato puffs, season green beans and fluffy pudding. Middle and high schoolers will have popcorn chicken, assorted fruits, veggies and side items, according to the district website

In March, the school board passed a measure to change from a . This decreased the amount of bus drivers, so fewer drivers are driving more routes, adjusting school beginning and end times. Here are each school's day times: 

Mehlville and Oakville High Schools: 7:20 a.m. until 2:05 p.m.

Buerkle, Bernard and Oakville Middle Schools: 8 a.m. until 2:45 p.m.

Washington Middle School, Beasley, Blades, Forder, Oakville and Rogers Elementary Schools: 8:40 a.m. until 3:25 p.m.

Bierbaum, Hagemann, Point, Trautwein and Wohlwend Elementary Schools: 9:15 a.m. until 4 p.m.
