Nominations for the Mehlville Distinguished Service Award Due Friday

The award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the Mehlville School District.

The Mehlville School District is seeking nominations for its Distinguished Service Award. The submission deadline is 4 p.m. on Friday, April 1.

The award program, which has been in place since 1990, recognizes community members who have made significant contributions in service to the overall district, individual Mehlville staff members or students, or individual schools.

The winner is selected from a 13-member committee consisting of board members, administrators, teachers, students, community members and former honorees. Deb Langland, who is running for a school board seat in the April 5 election, was last year's award recipient.

"The nomination forms are given to the committee on an anonymous basis," said Emily McFarland, a district spokeswoman. "We get the forms and replace the nominee's names with candidate No. 1, No. 2 and so on."

Any district parent, resident, business person or civic group may be nominated. Former district employees who have not worked for the district for a one-year period and former board members who have not served on the board in the last three years are also eligible.
