Oakville High Students Advance to National SkillsUSA Competition
The June championships will test career and technical skills.
The career and technical skills of three Oakville High School students have earned them a gold medal in the Missouri state SkillsUSA competition, qualifying them for a trip to the organization’s national championships in June. Two Oakville High students also medaled at the East District championships.
The state champions each earned a $2,000 scholarship to attend Linn Technical College, the host for this year’s Missouri state competition. Their gold medals also earned the students the opportunity to compete in their respective divisions during SkillsUSA’s 47th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference taking place from June 19-24 in Kansas City, Mo.
SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. For more information, visit www.skillsusa.org.
