School Board Candidates: Still Just One

After two full days, Ron Fedorchak is still the only one with his hat in the ring.

As of almost two full days, only one candidate has filed to run in the April 2012 Mehlville School Board election. Ron Fedorchak was waiting to sign up with Superintendent Eric Knost's executive assistant, Sharon Peiffer, at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.

There will be two open slots to be filled on the board in the April election.

Tuesday's Patch article about the race stated that it was a first to have only one sign up in the first day, but Brit Rose commented on that article that in 2009, he was the only candidate waiting when the door opened.

Peiffer checked, and confirmed his statement. But to have only one sign-up after two days is a first, for recent history.

"I went back all the years that I've done it," Peiffer said. "At the end of two days, to only have one is a first."
