Senior Citizens Relive Prom at Margaret Buerkle Middle School

The Margaret Buerkle Middle School held their annual senior citizen prom Friday.

For more than 15 years, the Student Council at Margaret Buerkle Middle School has organized a senior citizen prom, complete with theme, dj and tons of dancing.

"It takes a lot of effort," Kelsie Tinnea said. "We decided on a theme in January and have spent this whole month making decorations."

Tinnea is the president of Buerkle's Student Council and organized the dance with the rest of the council and volunteer alumni from Mehlville High School.

More than 60 seniors gathered to eat dinner and mingle with the students before dancing the night away.

Ervin J. Vlasak Sr. took his girlfriend Ann Gratz to the prom because she had never been to one.

"That's why I had to get her the flowers—all girls should have flowers on prom night," he said.

The music ranged from Frank Sinatra to Justin Bieber and spring decorations and masks were sprinkled throughout Buerkle's cafeteria.

"It's just nice to see how the kids get dressed up," said Leonard Frost, who has been coming to the prom for four years.
