Whiz Kid’s Accomplishment: Received numerous awards in the Sponsors of School Publications’ Spring Journalism Conference, including “Best of Show in Broadcast News.”

Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: Eric Lehr’s hobby of making short videos for his friends just for fun turned into a more serious endeavor this past school year when he was chosen as the first ever head editor for the broadcast journalism program at Oakville Senior High. The inaugural class puts together a weekly broadcast that is shown to the school during ANP (Academic Networking Period), and Lehr is in charge of editing the pieces and compiling the final project.

“It’s really cool knowing that everyone is watching something you’ve worked so hard on,” Lehr said.

Lehr acknowledged his broadcast editing skills have really improved, but it’s not what he wants to go to college for. Instead, he hopes to either volunteer his editing skills or just work on movies for fun again.
