Accomplishment: Julia recently received an award for her Halloween artwork, on display in the lobby of on Telegraph Road.

Key to Awesomeness: A busy eighth-grader, Julia has many activities going on in her life. She attributes her success in art to the after-school lessons that she takes from KrisArt. This is the second year that she has received recognition for her entries in the contest.

“I really enjoy the art classes and have learned a lot since I began,” Julia said.

“My favorite classes at school are math and history. I enjoy math because it is easy for me. History is fun because we get to learn about the past. I have great teachers that make learning interesting,” Julia said.

As to reading for pleasure, Julia is enthusiastic about the Harry Potter series and the Percy Jackson books.

Volleyball and soccer are a big part of Julia’s recreation. She is on a CYC team as well as playing for St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. Her soccer team is undefeated this year.

Julia is a member of Girl Scout Troop 945 at St. Margaret Mary. She is currently working on a faith-based project, the Marian Award, which is a cooperative effort with the Girl Scouts and the St. Louis Archdiocese. Julia will be doing a service project involving the scouts going to an animal shelter where they will help walk and feed the animals.

At school, Julia is involved in other service projects.

“This year, the eight graders have a special field trip. We go bowling with Special Olympics students. Each class goes every other week. We are paired with an athlete and have a great time bowling,” Julia said.

Another activity on Julia’s calendar is taking part in the annual Bellarmine Speech League.

“We have to pick a speech, memorize it and present it to the judges. It’s really fun. Last year my speech partner and I made it to the finals and won a gold ribbon,” said Julia.

Julia has a busy schedule, but she is never too busy to care for her pet rabbit, Snowball.
