Whiz Kid’s Accomplishment: Her photograph was selected as an entry in the Congressional Art Competition in Washington, D.C.

Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: Kuechenmeister’s eye for photographical composition, enhanced by her photography class at OHS, led to her photo being selected by U.S. Representative Russ Carnahan for the Congressional Art Competition. The photograph, entitled “Never be Forgotten,” depicts a red rose on gravestones at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, and was inspired by grandparents who served in the military.

“It’s a picture that means a lot to me,” Kuechenmeister said. She struggled with the open-ended assignment briefly, mainly because of her own indecisiveness. “I’m a bit of a perfectionist,” she said.

In addition to photography, Kuechenmeister is a member of the OHS Choir, National Honor Society, Hi Step, Key Club, A+, and a bible study group. She hopes to pursue psychology or English in the future.

Kuechenmeister will attend the opening ceremony for the exhibit on June 22 in Washington, D.C.
