Whiz Kid’s Accomplishment: Received “Honorable Mention” in Yearbook Life Design and “Excellent” in Yearbook Sports Photography in the Sponsors of School Publications of Greater St. Louis’ (SSP) spring conference.

Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: Vitale got involved in the Yearbook class at Oakville after her brother had recommended it. She has since become very excited about photography and the arts. She helped design and complete the award-winning yearbook spread that featured two random OHS students, who were connected back to one another through twenty-seven other students. The spread put to work the famous “six degrees of separation” theory. For example, student “A’s” mom worked with student “B’s” sister, who had English class with student “C,” and so on.

“The spread was a lot of work, so it was rewarding to know that it was recognized,” Vitale said.

Vitale will attend St. Louis Community College this fall, where she hopes to pursue Art Education. “I am passionate about art and I’ve always excelled in it…being a teacher is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid,” Vitale said.
