Accomplishment:  Maggie is a budding artist, known for her renderings of sunsets and portraits.

Key to Awesomeness: Maggie McGinnis is a very busy girl. Sometimes there are not enough hours in the day for her to enjoy all of her talents, schoolwork and hobbies. Art is her primary interest, and this year she is going to work on a self-portrait using a mirror. Maggie works in a variety of mediums and always has a large stock of art supplies on hand.

Maggie is certainly not a one-dimensional artist. After she puts away her art supplies, she leaves plenty of time for other activities. She has been studying Bushido karate for two years and has achieved a third-degree brown belt. She enjoys both the sport and the competition and plans on continuing in the program.

An avid reader, Maggie’s favorite series of books is Ivy and Bean written by Annie Barrows and illustrated by Sophie Blackwell.

“I like these books very much because they are about two best friends who are always doing interesting things together and sometimes getting into a little bit of trouble,” Maggie said.

Maggie is happy to be back in school this year to begin second grade. She thoroughly enjoys the new playground equipment, installed last year at Point Elementary School.

“I love getting back to school so that I can see all of my friends again,” she said.

A highpoint of Maggie’s summer was a family vacation to Idaho Falls where she visited Yellowstone Bear World.

“They had about 50 bears there and you could pet the baby bears. It was a lot fun."

Right now, Maggie is anxiously awaiting the arrival of two brand new front teeth.
