Wohlwend Elementary Teacher Dies Unexpectedly

Mehlville Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost posted a Facebook announcement of the sudden death of second grade teacher Kathy Rausch.

The following message was posted on the Mehlville School District Facebook page:

A Message from Superintendent Dr. Eric D. Knost:
We are saddened to share the following news regarding one of our teachers. Yesterday evening we were informed of the very sudden passing of Mrs. Kathy Rausch, second grade teacher at Wohlwend Elementary School. Kathy has been with the Mehlville School District for a number of years, serving as a teacher at Wohlwend and previously Forder. The coming days will be especially difficult for Kathy's family, the Wohlwend students and community, and many staff members and friends who knew her personally. Let's support all of these people with our thoughts and prayers as Wohlwend works through this very tragic loss.

District representatives have told Patch that they are unaware of the cause of death for Rausch. We will keep in touch with the school and pass on any further information.

According to Rausch's classroom page at Wohlwend, this was her first year in that building.

Welcome to our 2nd grade website!  This is my 1st year teaching at Wohlwend, but I have taught previously in the Mehlville School District as a 4th grade teacher.  I am certified in Elementary Education and have a Master's Degree in Education as well.  I am looking forward to learning with you this year!

We've heard from the school that Mrs. Rausch died of an unexpected health related issue. We'll wait to see if the family makes her exact illness public.
