JV Tiger Hockey Earns First Seed Going into the Postseason
The Oakville Hockey Club junior varsity team placed first in their division along with the varsity team.
Oakville hockey has a succession of solid players ahead as their junior varsity team placed first in their division, earning them a first-round bye in the playoffs.
The team went 12-3-1 on the season but had a rough start, losing two out of their first three games to start the season.
After beating Marquette 3-0 on Nov. 19, the team only lost one more game the rest of the season.

“That game helped us form an identity and gave us confidence knowing that we could play with any team in the league,” said coach Tyler Sollberger in an email to Patch.
The Tigers finished strong with a 2-1 win against Eureka Monday that clinched the No. 1 seed for the playoffs.

“It was a great joy to watch the team and cheerleaders celebrate all of their hard work and commitment by completing one of our team goals on Monday night,” he said. “From the first day of practice in September, we preached the importance of success and competition on and off the ice.”
Sollberger said the team still has work to do as they start playoffs in early February.
The with a 5-1 victory over Marquette Jan. 26. They begin playoffs Friday at 9 p.m. game against Eureka in Fenton.
