MSHSAA Establishes New Football Districts

A new playoff format means new district assignments for area football teams.

The Missouri High School Activities Association announced the new districts needed for the new playoff format.

In recent years, there have been four teams in most districts with the final three games of the season determining which two teams from each district moved on to the post-season.

This year, there will be as few as six and as many as eight teams in each district. The regular season will now be nine games instead of 10.

Lindbergh, Mehlville, Northwest and Oakville will be joined by Eureka, Lafayette, Marquette and Parkway South in District 1.

CBC, DeSmet, Francis Howell North, Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood West, Pattonville, Ritenour and SLUH will be in Class 6, District 2.

The Class 5, District 1 field includes just six teams but there will be some traveling involved as Jackson and Poplar Bluff join Fox, Rockwood Summit, Seckman and Vianney.

Affton and Lutheran South will compete in Class 4, District 2 along with Imagine, Miller Career, Roosevelt, St. Mary's, Vashon and Windsor.

Ladue, Pacific, Priory, St. Clair, Borgia, Sullivan, Union and Westminster Christian are in Class 4, District 3 while Clayton, Gateway Tech, Jennings, MICDS, Normandy, St. Charles, St. Charles West and University City are in Class 4, District 5.
