Oakville Ends Season in District Tournament

The Tiger volleyball team lost three out of four matches Friday.

The Oakville volleyball season is over after what first-year coach Kelsey Husak called a rebuilding year. With only one returning varsity player from the state champion team, the squad lost three out of four matches in the district tournament Friday.

The Tigers fell to Mehlville in two games 25-19, but won the second match against Fort Zumwalt West in three, 25-21, 23-25 and 15-12.

After a 25-19, 25-16 loss to De Smet, Husak said the Tigers had fun in their last match against Northwest. The Lions won 25-11 and 25-23 to finish Oakville's season.

The coach said the team played the best against De Smet, but after the Spartans went on a few runs, the Tigers could not catch up.
