Assumption Students Warm ER Children

As part of their Confirmation, students from Assumption Catholic School made blankets for children in the Emergency Room at St. Anthony's.

Children visiting the ER at St. Anthony's Medical Center are a little warmer thanks to students at Assumption Catholic School. The seventh and eighth grade students, as part of service hours for Confirmation, made blankets for the children in Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Emergency Care at St. Anthony's.

"There was  a little boy there that was 18 months old and he started playing with it and was really smiley. The three eighth grade boys that delivered them, I think that they got more out of the experience because they knew someone enjoyed the end product," said Tracy Smith, a parent who helped organize the students.

About 30 kids made 150 bright and colorful blankets from fabric supplied by the hospital. The students met twice to make the get-well-soon blankets.

"I think this is something that we want to continue to do every year," Smith said. "The kids really enjoy doing it and relate very well to small children."
