Key to Awesomeness: While many students are relaxing during the lazy days of summer, Dobbs spends part of her vacation volunteering at St. Anthony’s Medical Center. Known around the hospital as a very bright, cheery and reliable helper, Dobbs especially enjoys working in the gift shop. There, she has the opportunity to arrange flowers and deliver them to patients.

“Interacting with the patients is my favorite part of the job,” she said. “St. Anthony’s has great volunteer opportunities. Their volunteer program runs very smoothly. I really like being there.”

An excellent student, Dobbs currently carries 10 subjects at Notre Dame, with five of them honor roll classes. She still takes on other pursuits, despite her heavy academic load. This past season was her first year playing racquetball for Notre Dame and she plans to play on the school team again next year.

A music lover, Kelly sings and plays both the guitar and piano. Currently she is practicing for the school musical, a modern version of “Aida,” composed by Elton John and Tim Rice.

Kelly is active in the St. Simon's youth group where she participates in retreats, social events and service projects, including the Special Olympics. At Mary Mother of the Church, Dobbs has the challenging job teaching classes of pre-school children on Sunday mornings.
