Mehlville Police Prepare for Black Friday

With a new holiday program, the South County police are ready for shopping's busiest day.

South County police will implement the County Police Holiday Enforcement Program to deter crime on Black Friday. "The precinct will be fully staffed with 10 to 13 cars patrolling and on-call to the shopping areas," said Officer Bill Govero of the St Louis County Police 4th Precinct. Extra cars will be patrolling the South County Center as well as Wal-Mart during peak hours, namely 4 a.m. to 1 p.m., he said. The plan of attack is visibility according to Govero. "We'll have a very visible presence on Black Friday, which in itself should act as a major deterrent to crime," he said.
