A Chesterfield couple was accused Saturday of three bank robberies, including two holdups in South County. Town and Country Police reported that Mackenzie Leonard, 26, and Darren Everett, 42, both of the 1100 block of Matador in Chesterfield, were charged with three counts of first-degree robbery. Leonard also was charged with armed criminal action. Police said Leonard and Everett acted together in the following robberies: St. Louis County Police stated two more robbery charges are may be pending, one in Arnold and another in Columbia, IL. A South County man faces criminal charges after the US Bank at 2041 Union Road was robbed in June. Ricky A. Martin, 55, of the 9400 block of Green Park Gardens Drive in Green Park, was charged Friday with first-degree robbery. St. Louis County Police said Martin went into the bank at about 2:05 p.m. June 29 and demanded money. The teller told police he grabbed his hip indicating he had a gun or weapon. There has been at least one bank robbery in South County every week for the last month.
Does it seem like you are reading about bank robberies in the area every week? Well, turns out you are. We counted. South County has had at least one bank robbery every week for the last month. Here's the list, going back week-by-week. On Friday, a man made off with cash from Regions Bank, 9100 Gravois in Affton, after implying he had a weapon. Police thought they had him surrounded at the nearby Gardenville Masonic Temple, but in the end did not apprehend the suspect. On Jan. 24, a security guard detained a bank robber at Southern Commercial Bank, 6969 South Lindbergh Boulevard. Police said the bank hired the security guard after several previous robberies. Brian Schappe was arrested after police say he demanded money in the bank on Tuesday.
The man arrested Tuesday in connection with the robbery of the Southern Commercial Bank on Lindbergh has been formally charged, St. Louis County police announced today. Brian J. Schappe, 27, of Florissant, was charged Wednesday with robbery in the first degree and is being held on a $50,000 bond. Police say Schappe entered the bank at 6969 Lindbergh Boulevard and demanded money, but was detained by the bank's security officer. No one was injured. Police said the bank employed a security guard after it was robbed multiple times.

Century Credit Union on Lemay Ferry Road was previously robbed by the same man on July 13.
The Century Credit Union at 1540 Lemay Ferry Rd. was robbed for the second time this month on Wednesday. Police suspect the same man was responsible for both robberies. St. Louis County Police responded to the Lemay bank robbery call at 3 p.m. Wednesday. According to media relations officer Rick Eckhard, a man had entered the bank and left a note on the counter demanding money. The man then fled the bank on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, running down an alley toward Stake 'N Shake. No one was hurt, and no weapon was displayed. Police described the suspect as an unshaven white male of medium build between 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 6-feet, 2-inches tall. A masked man robbed the Electro Savings Credit Union Friday morning
The Electro Savings Credit Union at 12400 Tesson Ferry in Concord was robbed Friday morning, Sgt. James McWilliams of the St. Louis County Police said. At approximately 9:15 a.m., county police responded to a call of a bank robbery. A masked man had entered the bank and demanded money. He did not display any weapons, and no one was injured. The subject fled the bank in a white Chevy Uplander with an undetermined amount of cash. Police said the subject was described as a white male, 5 foot 7 inches tall and of medium build. He was wearing a green ski mask and a blue coat with white strips on the sleeves. At approximately 9:15 a.m., an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from Southern Commercial Bank.
UPDATED 3:30 p.m.— At approximately 9:15 a.m., a man walked into the Southern Commercial Bank at 6969 South Lindbergh and demanded cash. The man was seen getting into the passenger side of a white SUV waiting on an adjacent parking lot, according to new information provided by Officer Rick Eckhard of the St. Louis County Police. The suspect is described as a black male between the ages of 25 and 35, with a build of 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches and 170-200 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket with a fur hood, maroon pants, pink shirt and a black scarf around his face. After announcing a robbery, the suspect displayed a handgun, but no injuries were reported.
